Summer is drawing to a close, and fall is finding ways to make itself known. Schoolyards are full of laughing children. Sunsets are descending earlier, and nights are cooler. Six- and eight-legged creatures are weighing the benefits of moving in with human roommates, and largely concluding they should (to the surprise of the new roommates). The other night, a moth the size of a sparrow fluttered in and out of my porch, enamored with my twinkle lights.

Next weekend, September 21st and 22nd, Charles and I plan to attend our last outdoor bookselling event of the season, and a grand celebration of the arrival of autumn: The Cedarburg Wine & Harvest Festival.

Cedarburg Wine & Harvest Festival
Artisan Market

Saturday, September 21st
and Sunday, September 22nd
Cedarburg, WI

Our booth will be on Washington Ave., north of Turner St., across the street from the 1849 Kuhefuss House Museum.

Charles and I have fallen in love with the historic little town of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, just 30 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee. I adore how the Columbia River winds through silent, wooded greenery past old brick buildings, like something Currier and Ives could have come up with.

In addition to the hundreds of local artisans and vintners who will line Washington Avenue and its side streets, there are many delightful year-round gift shops and coffee shops to explore. Cedarburg has become a must-go locale for Charles and me. We’re delighted to have a booth at Wine & Harvest so we have another excuse to go!

During our last event in Cedarburg, we sold out of our brand-new hardbacks the very first day! This time, we’re bringing even more, and hoping they last longer.

Will they? No idea. We’re fine-tuning how many hardbacks we need to bring to events like these, and hencefar, the number has eluded us. So–I don’t know? Maybe come early if you have your heart set on hardbacks??

The forecast promises perfect early-fall weather, which delights my little autumn-loving soul. Come join us for this last hurrah before winter settles in, and we all retreat to our homes with an old bottle of wine and a new book.
